Why resize yourself instead of letting platforms do it
Every social network re-scales what you upload, but their pipelines optimize for their servers, not for your image: aggressive compression, unexpected cropping, and sharpening artifacts are common. Uploading an image already at the platform's native size means the platform has nothing to do, so what viewers see is much closer to what you exported. The same logic applies to websites you run yourself: serving a 4000-pixel photo into a 400-pixel slot wastes bandwidth and slows the page for every visitor, and no amount of compression fixes dimensions that are 10x too large.
Limitations to know
Shrinking an image is safe; enlarging one is not. Scaling up cannot invent detail that was never captured, so a small image blown up to poster size will look soft no matter which tool you use - this resizer will do it if you ask, but expect visible quality loss beyond roughly 2x. Also note that resizing re-encodes the file, so metadata like EXIF is affected; if your goal is specifically to strip location data while keeping the image untouched, the Metadata Remover does that losslessly.
