Terms of Service
Last updated: .
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the OpenConvert website and the tools available at openconvert.net (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
OpenConvert provides a collection of free file utilities - including image, PDF, audio, and video tools - that run entirely within your web browser. The processing of your files happens locally on your own device. We do not receive, upload, store, or transmit the files you work with. The Service is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising.
2. Your files and your responsibility
You retain all ownership of, and full responsibility for, any files you process with the Service. Because the tools run on your device, your files never reach us. You are solely responsible for:
- Keeping your own backups of any file before and after using a tool.
- Ensuring you have the legal right to process any file you use with the Service.
- Verifying that the output meets your needs before you rely on it.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Use the Service to process material you do not have the right to use, or for any unlawful or infringing purpose.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service or its security.
- Use automated means to abuse the Service or its advertising.
- Use the Service in any way that could harm, disable, or impair it or interfere with another person's use of it.
4. No warranty
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any tool will produce a particular result. File conversion and processing can be imperfect; always check the output before relying on it.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpenConvert and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or files, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Because your files are processed on your own device and never sent to us, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Service is to stop using it.
6. Advertising and third-party services
The Service is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense, and may load resources or fonts from third-party providers. These third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control. Your use of any third-party service is at your own risk. For details on advertising cookies and data, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Intellectual property
The OpenConvert name, branding, website design, and original text are the property of the Service's operator and may not be copied or reused without permission. The tools may rely on open-source libraries, which remain the property of their respective authors under their own licenses. These Terms do not grant you any right to our branding.
8. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, add, or remove any part of the Service - including individual tools - at any time and without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the latest version, and your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service's operator resides, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
